President Pratibha Patil has visited 22 countries during her tenure that has cost ed the exchequer a whooping sum of Rs 205 crores! she still is left with a 4 month tenure and may cost even more for some more trips abroad. The President has special air crafts to fly her wherever she wants to along with family members that accompany her adding their burden of boarding and lodging to the state. This is the biggest price tag a President has ever given to the state so far after the independence that India got in the year 1947.
while no one is questioning the President for the numerous trips undertaken by her along with a large contingent of family members and enjoying the hospitality in star hotels and the entire staff of the Indian Missions abroad, one really wonders as to what business has she brought for the country in terms of international trade or forging peace with our neighbours or elsewhere in the world with which mutual trust is built for bilateral trade and business. The President has to explain to the people, as a matter of good will and courtesy, about the resultant fruits that has been brought into the country through her foreign visits. when a sales executive working for a company is accountable for his daily work schedule and the business that is brought, why not apply the same yard stick to the Head of the State who has spent such a huge sum of money from the Tax payers money? It is assumed that the President's visits are not meant for holidaying and cooling the heels in a resort abroad! The accompanying family members also have a responsibility to tell the nation as to how their presence facilitated in profit for the nation?
will the President's office explain this to the people of the country?
