Announcing Padma Shree award to Saif ali Khan has lowered the dignity of the award itself. People are left wondering the reason for which he has been chosen for the award. Is it for acting, or ditching women one after the other ponders an average man on the street! The government should zero down a person only after verifying the credentials in all aspects. Here is a hero who married Amrita singh, had children through her, then had several live-in girl friends including some Italian model and finally latched up with Kareena Kapoor! Does this aspect contribute to the selection of such awards? If he has been chosen for his acting skills, then it is sad to see an award going waste!
The government will do well if certain criterion and rules are laid down for such awards. These awards are national awards and represent the country's recognition for the person and make them Ambassadors for the country.
Besides, there should be an age criterion for such awards and it should not be given to people who are in their teens or in their 20s or 30s lest the recognition goes int their head to boost their ego negetively and unproductively.
going by the trend of such awards presented to youngsters, one would not be surprised if the government decided to decorate one such award to a baby who is still in the womb stating reasons that may justify granting such awards!!?? God Bless!!
