noise pollution on the rise in Chennai

There has been a steady increase in the number of vehicles plying on the roads of Chennai without sufficient infra-structure development to allow such vast number of private, commercial and government vehicles.  Added to the vows, the MNC offices and the IT hub hire huge buses and tempo travellers to ferry their employees for work and drop them back in their houses.  The city traffic is so dense that there is a speed limit of 40kms/hour for all the vehicles plying on the road, stipulated by the State.

Indian drivers have a bad habit of honking at a given chance and tense up motorists who are lined up ahead! Added to these woes, there has been a steady increase in vehicles fitted with Air-horns which are banned as per the transport laws of the state.  These vehicles fitted with such loud air-horns make motoring difficult for humans.
The vans or the tempo travellers mostly operated by the tourist taxi service suddenly comes besides and honks which tears your ear drums and push you into a state of shock for sometime.  The sudden diversion of mind Will result in fatal accidents.  It is time that the government does something to stop this increasing noise pollution and arrest these rogue drivers and prevent them from causing traffic nuisance to motorists?
